We love Halloween in Texas! it was warm enough for the kids to trick or treat without having to wear coats! Our good friends the Davidson's joined us and we brought in a record amount of candy!!

Isaac gets his Wolf... Finally!

We left Washington right before Isaac's 9th Birthday. In cub scouts you receive your Wolf badge and status at this age. It took us a minute to get situated and back into the swing of things including Scouts but we finally got his Wolf Book turned in with all his achievements and he was able to receive his much deserved, if not a bit tardy, wolf badge. Go Isaac and thanks to Bro. Belnap for being an awesome scout leader!

An Amazing Surprise!!

My two wonderful longtime friends, Keirra and Gina, plotted with Joel to fly in and surprise me for a fun weekend here in Fort Worth! I was so very surprised!! We stayed in beautiful downtown Fort Worth and saw the Stockyards, did some shopping, and some fun eating, but most of all just hung out, talked, and laughed until we couldn't breathe!! I love you girls!! Thanks again for such a special time.

Baseball is a big deal here in Texas! We chose to go with the YMCA's program because they are a little bit more about just having fun rather than winning. Ethan is adorable out there and has improved his hitting and throwing. Isaac has a real knack for the game and catches, hits, and throws flawlessly! We are impressed with both of our boys!!

It was my oldest brother Jeremy's birthday yesterday on the 10th. I have so many fun memories of him! He was always patient and kind growing up and I love that he is my brother. Happy Birthday Jeremy!!

To anyone who has hung in there and still checks my blog I just wanted to say thank you for caring enough to check every once in a while! I am not the most computer savvy and i am working on being better at all of this. I have some pictures coming once i figure out how to get them on here. Summer days can be long and sometimes you have to get creative with what to do. So today I took the kids to have lunch with my mom at TG Hospital and then we enjoyed the water fountain and rose garden across from the hospital. I couldn't resist showing them Stadium High School which was so close by. It is by far the most amazing looking high school I know. It was open so we explored all three levels inside and the kids all want to go there now. Here is a little trivia. Stadium High was originally built in 1893 to be a French Chateau style upper class hotel. Because of funds and fire it was abandoned and then bought by the city to be a school. It was renovated and opened to students in the Fall of 1906. It truly is a beautiful structure. A little creepy as Ethan said but fun to explore.

Okay, Joel and I thought it would be fun to take the kids to chinook passs to go on a hike. We got there and the trail was covered in snow but after driving for a hour we just had to try. It was slippery and scary and hilarious all at the same time. Emma found zero humor in the entire situation and insisted we buy her new shoes after taking her through such an awful experience. The rest of the kids seemed to find the adventure and teamwork in the whole thing but only for a while. Joel and I on the other had were trying hard not to laugh as we clung to little roots for dear life and kept slipping and scaring our children. Probably won't do it again anytime soon but it was a great adventure!

Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd! Safeco had a family night game a couple of Monday's ago so Sharsti and Josh had the great idea that we should all go. Our family had a great time and Isaac and Ethan kept saying it was the best family night ever! The Mariners lost but we had a great time watching them play anyways.

Joel and I took the kids to Banks lake over by the Grand Coulee Dam. My family knows it as Steamboat Rock. It has been raining nonstop here in Washington and we just really needed some sun. So we borrowed Grandpa Great's fishing boat and took off for eastern WA. We were not disappointed. The skies were blue and it was 80 degrees while we were there. We saw the lazer show at the dam the first night and then got up early and fished and swam for most of the day. Needless to say the kids loved time with their Dad.

The Daffodill Parade

This is the last year we will get to see the Daffodill Parade so Neeley and I found ourselves a spot on the sunny side of the street and had such a good time with our kids. I especially liked it when someone passed out free 2010 Census hats and our children wore them proudly even if they were way to big. Have you filled out your Census form?

Liz and Shaun came in to town for the weekend on their way to their new home in Hawaii. We had so much fun just hanging out, celebrating Mom's 60th birthday and enjoying watching our children play together. Thanks Liz and Shaun, Izzy and Ian for coming to see us in Washington! Love you so much!

Isaac has been a part of a local wrestling league lately and he really loves it. He works really hard during practices and gives it his all. These are pictures of his first matches. He had a good time and was a great competitor. I was so proud of him. Isaac is a bit of a ham for the camera. Hence his side pose. He makes me laugh daily!

Emma and Ethan are such good friends. She is very good with little children, it is a gift of hers. Emma and Ethan went outside to play after Sadie and Isaac got on the bus and found a frozen world full of fun things to do. Like ice skate in the sand box and make foot prints in the frosty grass!

We had so much fun on our annual Christmas tree day. Breakfast with my brother Jeremy's family in the morning and then on to Snowshoe Evergreen to cut down our trees. Thank-you Grandma Martha for helping us all and Jeremy for cutting down our trees after my kids hacked them up with the saw. I love my family!

The day before Thanksgiving Neeley's kids and mine plus Josh and Sharsti went to Owen's beach. It was cold but beautiful. It was good to get to know Sharsti's fiance a little better and also to see her so very happy.

This is Joel and my second trip to Germany. We had such a good time and enjoy that country and its people so very much. We went to the 1936 Winter Olympic Stadium. We hiked around in the mountains. We toured the streets and shops of Garmisch. We also toured the Dachau Concentration Camp. He is my best friend and I love being with him. I missed my children but I so enjoyed this rare opportunity to be with my sweetheart.

I could not keep Ethan out of the water. He would race straight for the ocean without any fear. He loved it when I would swim out with him and lift him above the swells as they would come crashing in. When the kids weren't swimming they were in the beautiful perfect sand digging and building. Such fun!

Breeanna helped so much. She was so much fun and we were all very glad she came. Ethan couldn't eat his ice cream fast enough before it would melt. The other picture is from our day at the Hilton. The kids enjoyed the opportunity to kayak in the lagoon. They were actually really good at it by the time we left.

These are from our trip to Hawaii back in June. This was Joel's first time home since leaving for Kuwaitt. He is in Afghanistan now and we miss him so much but we loved this vacation. So very fun and memorable for us all.

Today is the last spirit day at Sadie's school. The theme was "Hawaiian" so Sadie dressed up in a dress I got in Hawaii when I was 8! I thought she looked so cute I had to post these pictures of her. When Emma and Ethan saw Sadie getting her picture taken they had to get in on it so there you go. The hair flowers were made by my friend Megan and I think they turned out just adorable. So ALOHA! Or as Emma would say "HULA HULA!!"

For Memorial Day weekend my mom booked a hotel in Sequim near Port Angeles. Jeremy's family and mine went with her. I have never been that side of the Olympic Mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking. I wish I had pictures of the Olympic Game reserve that we went to. That was very wild. We had such a good time!

Happy Easter! It was a rainy day but my children looked bright and lovely. After church they found their Easter baskets and the first thing they all did was eat the ears off their chocolate bunnies. We went to Grandma Colleen's for dinner and it was so delicious and fun. Only thing missing again was Joel. Let's hope for next year.

For spring break I took my kids to a place in Centralia called The Great Wolf Lodge. It has a huge water park inside of it. We spent one night and I took my sister Breanna with me. We had a great time. It has been pouring rain and snow for all of spring break so I am glad if nothing else we did that one thing. The only thing missing was Joel!

We woke up to a beautiful snowy morning! It will be Spring in a few weeks but we don't mind one more snow day. The kids made the most of it! Poor Sadie had to get on the bus. She was not happy.

Emma was so excited to start Pre-school. Isaac went to Miss Karen too. The cool thing about that is that Miss Karen was my pre-school teacher too! She is great. Isaac started Kindergarten knowing how to read because of her. Isaac also couldn't wait to start school mostly because of the bus. So here he is striking a few poses before the bus comes. Ethan and I were his audience(not that he needs one) while he danced around letting loose of an energy that if they could just bottle we would never be tired again!

My kids get excited to go and so I am excited for them but I of course feel the sadness that they are one year older and how quickly time is passing. Ethan and Joel swapped hats. Ethan's head is almost big enough! Also they say that sleep begets sleep. Emma and Ethan are like kittens when they sleep. They curl up around each other and as long as they are together like that they will sleep for a while. If one gets up, the other gets up to. Kind of funny.

Sadie's baptism was the same day as President Hinkley's funeral. It was a very special experience. Sadie's attitude towards things changed noticeably after her baptism. She reads the scriptures we got her on her own now and is much more of a peacemaker than she used to be. Joel and I are so proud of her choice to be baptised! We are lucky to have her in our family.

For some reason my kids love to listen to this Cindy Lauper CD we have. Emma loves to dance with her daddy to the song "Time after Time". She will play it over and over until Joel is exhausted!

This was such a fun day! There was fresh snow from the night before and the weather stayed nice the whole time. The kids were exhausted by the time we were done. Joel had them digging caves and forts the whole time. We loved it!

I am still trying to bring my pictures up to date with present time. I left off with Zoo Lights before Christmas so here is Christmas morning! The biggest hit as far as toys went this year were these remote control helicopters. Isaac, Sadie, and especially Joel flew those things all around the house everyday of their vacation and then as soon as they got home from work or school. It was a fun season!

We went to Zoo Lights at the Point Defiance Zoo with Joel's sister Neeley and her family. It was very beautiful and very cold! The kids were troopers!

Another annual tradition is a visit to Snowshoe Evergreen Tree Farm for our Christmas Tree. We usually start the morning off at Cattin's with my brother Jeremy's family and my mom for breakfast then it is off to get our Christmas trees.

Here is Ethan! He is 6 months old now. He is a very sweet baby. He smiles alot and just has this happy spirit that we all enjoy to be around. Each of our children have been joyful blessings and Ethan just adds to our testimony of how glad we are that families are forever!
